First Post

I was about 19 years old and ready to move away from home to go to university in Toronto, and my sister was getting into indie music. All kinds of bands that I knew nothing about: Sloan, hHead, Moxy Fruvous, and cub.

I didn't like cub. As a guy who was eyeballs-deep into Rush, the simplicity and seeming sloppiness of the music offended me.

But somewhere along the way, it grew on me. And grew on me some more. And when I picked up my guitar and started to play along, I really began to dig it.

I listened to the records. I went to the shows. I met the band. I interviewed the band. I wrote about them in my zine, Cygnals.

And then the World Wide Web came along, and I built a web site about the band.

The band broke up, life got interesting, and the web site sat virtually untouched for more than a decade.

Now, Blogger makes it so simple and easy to build and maintain a site that it seems like it could be worth moving all that content and more over to a new spot. This is the spot.

So, welcome! The site may be impossibly useless to navigate at first, but at least I'll have a spot to a) post the old stuff, b) update the old stuff and c) add new stuff without diving into the 1998-era HTML and FTP stuff I was working with before.

Keep on rockin' in the free world!
